Congee, fresh strawberries, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, and deliciously strong coffee. Yum!

Breakfast never looked - or tasted - so good . . .
My new favorite breakfast food is CONGEE. I would describe it as a mix between oatmeal and grits, except is is made from rice....a rice porridge, if you will. I had it several times in Japan. I tried a chicken congee here in Singapore, but liked the plain better. Other breakfast foods and beverages I have tried include: dragon fruit, papaya, prata (similar to grilled flatbread), samosa (fortune cookie-shaped pastry with meat filling), leek bread (scallion pancake), mango juice, and rambutan (a fruit that looked like a green miniature walnut that you peel and eat). Some of the tastes and textures are hard to describe, so I am trying to give you a point of reference. All of the fruits are delicious. They do not use preservatives over here, so all of the breads/pastries are so tasty.
