Friday in Singapore: Meetings, Meals, and More

We met with the Graminex partners in the morning and their distributors in the afternoon.  I met some very nice people and much progress was made.  My friend Cindy did a great job in her presentation and I am learning a lot -- something I love to do.  After the morning meetings, we were taken to lunch at a great restaurant. We sat at a large round table that had a glass lazy Susan that covered the whole table except where our plates were. Each course was brought separately, placed on the lazy Susan nearest to our host and then spun to each guest. There were ten courses. The portions are not huge like in the U.S., and I found it quite a delightful way to eat. There were many new foods and flavors to try: BBQ pork squares, roasted slab bacon squares, vegetable spring rolls, Xiao long bao (Chinese steamed pork dumpling), whole yellow fish, spinach soup with goji berries, Golden pasty (my favorite-- delicious light crust with leeks inside), shrimp, baked BBQ pork bun, and fresh watermelon and mango for dessert. Oolong tea was served throughout the meal. It was a milder tea and I liked it. Chopsticks are used for all courses except dessert, when forks are provided.

Following the afternoon meetings, we went back to the hotel and enjoyed the pool. It is on the roof, above the 24th floor.  Very refreshing, and a gorgeous view.

We walked down Orchard Street, the big shopping area. It was like the Japanese Ginza. Huge high-end stores and giant video screens lined the street.

We topped the evening off with dinner at Lawry's Steak House.  It was the first red meat I have eaten in a while, and it was worth it!

On our walk back to the hotel, we stopped at the famous Garrett Popcorn Shop.
