Japan for Children - Lesson 3: "A Child's Look at the Ginza"

The Ginza is a shopping district in Tokyo. There were two things that I thought you would like to learn about. First of all, Japanese children (and even adults) LOVE Hello Kitty. At first I was really surprised, but when I learned that the cat represents prosperity and good fortune in Japan, it made perfect sense. The second thing I want to teach you about are the great glass elevators (remember that book Mrs. Moritz read to you?) that take you to different shopping areas in a store. The store I entered was selling watches. There were six glass elevators that took you up - as high as four stories - to different brands of watches. It was really awesome!
