Fish/Open Air Market & Old Tokyo

We had a very busy day today (Saturday). Took the subway out to the fish and open air market.  Really quite interesting to see how differently the Japanese eat. New foods I ate there: nori (a type of seaweed), egg meatloaf (similar to a fried egg roll), rice gelatin (I would describe it as a rice paste shell with red bean paste inside), rice crackers, and Japanese pickles.

Old Tokyo is the part of the city that was the original Imperial Japan capital. It is rich with Buddhist temples, prayer trees, and, of course, restaurants and shops. We ate lunch in a japanese restaurant featuring Shabu-Shabu meals. New foods I tried: wagyu, miso soup  We took off our shoes, sat on pillows, etc. Notice the Coke on the table!

  2. I should also add that even with all the fish and other "smelly" foods, there were no flies or other insects!
